Lani Shepherd is a stained glass artist whose work ranges from small vibrant and contemporary pieces to large commissions for public buildings. The main thing about her work is the wonderful combinations of colours and shapes. Lani designs and makes contemporary stained glass panels using handmade glass. She uses the unique qualities of the glass to create original and exciting work. Her range includes hangings, window panels and wall panels for interior use. The panels may be incorporated into existing windows, or hung independently.
She works from a studio set on the beautiful North Devon coast. Her experience as a sculptor and jeweller, working with ideas developed from natural and architectural themes, gives her creations an original and jewel-like quality. She works closely with clients to create beautiful objects for their enjoyment.
Lani is a member of North Devon Arts and the Exmoor Producers Association. She exhibits regularly and sells her work through local sources. She participates in the North Devon Festival with displays and workshops at Appledore Visual Festival and at this Art Trek open studio event in June.

Linda paints bold and contemporary flower pictures in acrylic. Compositions are modern and images seem to flow off the sides of the canvas. Colours are vibrant and flowers are selected for their distinctive, almost architectural shapes. Her work draws on the tradition of the botanical illustration, and tries to offer that detail in acrylics with stronger shapes, colours and compositions.
Linda's work is inspired by the amazing exotic plants that grow here in North Devon, in the public parks and gardens such as Rosemoor, Marwood Hill and Clovelly Court. In recent months she has developed a number of themes in her works - the almost abstract close up images, the ‘conservatory’ pictures - upright images of exotic plants against blue or cream grounds and the seasons paintings.

Unfortunately, the panoramic views mean that the house is high on a hill side, and as such is unsuited to wheelchair access. Sorry!
Here's a map of how to get to us. Castle Hill Lodge's entrance is opposite the John Fowler Sandaways Caravan Park on Newberry Hill. There is car access to the house for disabled only (parking on the drive). For other drivers, car parking is available in the lane directly opposite Castle Hill Lodge and will be signposted throughout the event. |
