Linda Hajdukiewicz - Artist's Profile

Linda Hajdukiewicz is an artist who likes to experiment and works in a variety of media and subject matter. Linda began her art education as an art historian and was a contributor to the Handbook of Modern British Painting 1900-1980 (Edited by Alan Windsor - Scolar Press, 1992). She is now a commercial greetings card designer - her work is published by Wildcat cards - see their website at www.wildcatcards.co.uk. Recently she has spent time developing her fine art and exhibits widely at venues throughout the South West including: Broomhill Art Hotel & Sculpture Gardens; Museum of Dartmoor Life; RHS Rosemoor. A major one-woman show of her work was held at the Queen's Theatre Gallery in July 2006. Linda is a committee member of leading arts organisation, North Devon Arts, is editor of the North Devon Arts newsletter, and was elected member of Westward Ho and Bideford Art Society in 2007. She was also North Devon Area artist representative for the open studio event, Devon Art Works, in 2007.

Reinventing the Flower Painting

Linda's recent work has focused on the flower painting - reinventing it for a modern audience. This work uses strong colours, interesting compositions, and the images flow off the canvas onto the canvas sides.

Linda says: "I have a range of 'conservatory' pictures, which are tall elegant images of exotic or eye-catching plants. My 'seasons' paintings show specimen flowers evocative of a particular season - ideal for modern interiors as a striking focal point to a bedroom or lounge. I also have a range of smaller canvases, ideal for brightening and filling a small space with colour. In owning this work you have beautiful flowers, always in bloom, always looking their best, without the need for green fingers!"

Linda has had an interesting love/hate relationship with flowers and gardening. Her family owned a nursery and she spent her early years at the nursery enjoying play amongst the flowers. As a teenager she worked on the nursery and equated tending plants with hard work - she rejected gardening and flowers at that time! Now she has come back to gardens and has a new enthusiasm: she is an RHS member, attends Chelsea and revels in the colour and beauty of her own garden. This love shines through in her representation of all that is striking and beautiful in gardens.

Commissions are welcome: Linda loves to create artwork for a special occasion based on an individual's requirements.

Shown below are examples of Linda's work in a variety of media and subjects.
