Oliver Lett - Artist's Profile
Oliver Lett is an artist whose quirky cat and dog paintings have built up a following. He studied at Herefordshire Art College before completing a BA(HONS) in Illustration at Loughborough University. He then moved from rural Herefordshire, where he grew up, to London. Both environments have inspired him in different ways: London with its excitement and endless possibilities for imagery; and Herefordshire with the beauty of its countryside. |

Oliver works with acrylic paint, usually onto box canvas. He tries to use colour, particularly in the cityscapes, to create an almost surreal world that has a cinematic feel to it. Colour also gives the animal images a quirky character and injects a sense of fun. The paint is applied heavily on these in order to build up the texture to resemble fur. Oliver welcomes commissions for animal portraits. He has become known for these quirky images and frequently exhibits in London, much of his work can be seen at the White Space Gallery. His cat images have also appeared as greetings cards published by art card specialist, Gallery Five.
